Michael Mizrachi: A Young Blood in Poker
Michael Mizrachi is a skilled poker player. He was born on born January 5,1981and grew up in North Miami Beach, Florida. Michael has a fraternal twin Eric and two brothers Robert (oldest) and the youngest Daniel.
Mizrachi was first introduced to poker when he was 13 years old. "The Grinder" as he is popularly known began playing online poker when his older brother Robert was doing some good run at it. He followed his brother's footstep. Michael started participating in $5-10 Limit Holdem online poker at Paradise Poker and shifted to the $30-60limit holdem and $100-200 limit holdem at PokerStars.
He first dreamed of one day becoming a doctor but in the end stepped out of college to pursue his poker career. Michael's largest career win came at the World Poker Tour Season 3 LA Poker Classic held in February of 2005. He reached the final table which includes poker greats Ed Lindgren and Ted Forrest. Eventually he won the main event in the $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em and took home $1,859,909 in prize money.
A month before this win, Mizrachi reached the final table at the World Poker Tour Open but ended up at 5th place behind Scotty Nguyen and Daniel Negreanu. Michael ended the year's World Poker Tour with a decent 11th placed (out of 452 entries) at the $25,000 buy-in WPT Championship.
At the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in 2005, Mizrachi equaled the record for most number of money finishes when he won seven.
In the World Poker Tour Season 4, Michael finished runner-up to Scotty Nguyen at the World Poker Open Gold Strike. In the following event, he reached the final table that includes Eric Lindgren and John D'Agostino and won $1,173,373 plus a brand-new 2006 Cadillac Escalade for his second World Poker Tour title.
Mizrachi also appeared at the final table of High Stakes Poker II.
In 2006 Michael Mizrachi was voted as the Player of the Year by CardPlayer Magazine. .
As of 2007, Michael Mizrachi's current live tournament earnings exceed $6,400,000.
Personal life
Michael has an older brother Robert who too has won several World Series of Poker as well as World Poker finishes credited to his name. Eric his twin brother is also a poker player and a Daniel, his younger brother is a magician by profession.
Michael Mizrachi has a son by his wife Aidiliy who they named Paul William (named after his grandfather). He also has a daughter, Julie Malka (meaning"queen" in Hebrew).
He and his family currently reside in Hollywood, Florida. Michael bought from Michael Jenkins Inc.a second-hand bus through his poker earnings. Michael used it whenever he is on the road just to keep his family close to him. Eventually Michael sold the bus.
